Journal prompts for daughters from hell
For an introspective night with a warm cup of tea
While I love the idea of journalling, I’ve always struggled to find anything to actually write about. I’ll watch countless aesthetic “How I set up my Filofax” videos, only to end up staring at a blank page, unsure of where to even begin. So, to celebrate Gracie Abrams’ new album Daughter From Hell, I’ve put together a list of journal prompts inspired by her lyrics, to hopefully spark a little inspiration.
What traits do you see in yourself that have come from your parents? Which ones are you grateful for and which ones do you want to unlearn?
What is something you spiral about?
If you were an evil supervillain, what would your power be?
What is the most important quality in a friend or romantic partner?
What do you think people misperceive about your life from the outside looking in?
Is there a difference between happiness and fulfilment?
Are there moments you regret or wish you could go back on? What fig-tree branches would they have created?
What is a childhood habit or preference that you’ll never outgrow?
If your life were a movie, which character would audiences love the most?
Write a hypothetical letter to someone you crossed paths only briefly but you still think about.
Do you hide parts of your personality or interests from your family?
If you could be born at a different time, when and where would it be?
Who has had the most positive impact on your life?
What was the most recent thing that made you cry?
Do you believe in soulmates?
What’s your definition of success?
Pick a lyric from your favourite song right now, and unpack what it means and how it makes you feel.
